Saying Goodbye
Today my brother left for New Orleans. He's an 82nd Airborne Ranger in the army and he is included in a 20 mile line convoy that is driving about 18 hours south. He will set up his comm truck on the airport tarmac where he will provide support for those helping to recover bodies. It took less than six hours for my brother's unit to mobilize and be ready to go from the moment they were called. They don't know exactly how long he will be gone but it'll probably be around three months.
Here are some pictures of my brother saying goodbye to his kids.
Riley
Ayden
As my brother was walking away from the vehicle Riley started to cry and said, "Mommy, I miss him already."

As much as it sucks for your brother to be away from his family, he is performing a task that will bring closure (if not comfort) to those who lost loved ones in New Orleans. That is far nobler, in my mind, than killing people in Iraq. And far less dangerous, I would think. Not that there's no danger; I've seen enough of the news coming out of New Orleans to know it is Hell on Earth there, with people acting like savages, and armed savages at that. But compared to Iraq, far less dangerous.
