I Hate Everything

Quitting smoking has been one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. It's not so much that I'm going through serious physical withdrawals but more that I'm just so grumpy.

Plus I keep eating Fruity Pebbles and drinking David's Coke. I have perfectly good Mt. Dew in the refrigerator but I don't want it, no siree bob, I want his Coke.

I was also mostly drunk all day yesterday. I usually associate smoking with drinking but believe me when I say there was a WHOLE HOUR where I didn't even think about having a cigarette!

I think the hardest part so far has been the dreams. Every time I've slept I've had really bizarre dreams. Last night I had THREE dreams wherein I was at the grocery store shopping with an extremely overloaded handbasket and in all three dreams David called me on the phone to break up with me so he could go out with That Girl. (You know That Girl...That Girl who only makes sense in your dreams.)

I slept for a while yesterday afternoon, too, but now I can't recall those dreams. But I know they were wacky.

It's now been 37 hours since my last cigarette and I think I might go crazy in the next hour or so. But I do have the best and most supportive boyfriend in the world who is glady providing me with my new crack: Fruity Pebbles, his Coca-Cola, and mucho booze. He's a good and patient man and I only hope that I don't end up killing him for dream breaking up with me three times!

Congrats... It gets MUCH easier after the initial shock wears off. Eventually, even the smell won't tempt you that much... Good luck getting through this initial tough part. :) Call if you need anything.

Alcohol is a perfect substitute for smokes. It is a perfect substitute for a LOT of things, actually -- sex, work, money, food, clean clothing, a place to live, health ... seriously, I don't think there's anything that can't be replaced by alcohol. Except maybe air, and I'm not even sure about that.

Y'know, that's clearly not the worst dream-me has done, no?

True. There was that dream I had about a year and a half or so ago wherein you KILLED ME by suffocating me with a pillow while I was driving.

Dream you is a bad, bad man. :P

wow, so i leave town for a couple of days and in that time you quit smoking?! it would have been easier to quit with me in new orleans. 24-hour alcohol is a foul temptress i tell you. you would have not even THOUGHT about smoking. round the clock drinks tend to lead to things like wandering the dirty streets barefoot at 8am looking for beignets. hmmm, smoking might be healthier.
